Impounded vehicle insurance is a short-term policy designed specifically to meet the legal requirements so you can get your vehicle released from a police compound. Standard car insurance policies often don’t meet these criteria, which is why a specialist 28-day policy like this one is required. Without it, your vehicle may remain impounded, and daily storage fees can quickly add up.

Everywhen’s impounded vehicle insurance policy provides third party only cover, which means you’re legally allowed to drive the vehicle once it’s released. However, it doesn’t include protection for damage to your own car, theft or fire. If you plan to continue driving after the 28-day period, you’ll need to arrange a separate, comprehensive motor insurance policy.

We know that time is critical when your vehicle is impounded, as daily storage fees can quickly rack up. You can be reassured that, once we’ve received your payment and all the required details, we’ll issue your certificate the same day via email. This document is what you’ll need to present at the compound to release your vehicle, so make sure you check your inbox and your spam folders.

No, it doesn’t. Impounded vehicle insurance is limited to the registered keeper of the specific vehicle being released, and can’t be extended to additional drivers or used for other vehicles. This is in compliance with police compound regulations, helping to avoids delays during the release process so you get your vehicle back as soon as possible.

Police compounds charge daily storage fees, and if your vehicle isn’t collected within a set timeframe, they may decide to dispose of it or auction it off. Getting the right insurance in place quickly is essential, so it’s best to act sooner rather than later to give yourself the best possible chance of getting back your vehicle.
