What does charity insurance cover?

Cover that can meet your charity's specific needs

We understand that all charities are different and our relationships with insurers means that we can meet each charity’s individual requirements. This means that if you have a specific insurance requirement, or might not need certain cover, we can approach the right market to make sure that you get the solution that meets your charity’s needs.

If you practice other forms of therapy, they can be incorporated into a single policy.

Fundraising events covered

This policy includes public and product liability cover for the majority of potential fundraising events that you may organise across the year, but in some cases, there may be some activities that need additional information or alternative arrangements. Our specialist team can arrange for you a fundraising guide to make the process simpler.

Charity trustees and volunteers included

As a charity, it’s inevitable that you will have many volunteers for a variety of events, across different areas and days. As part of our policy, we cover all volunteers as employees, so you don’t need to let us know if you have more or less for any specific reason.

This product also automatically includes a £100,000 limit of indemnity for charity trustees as part of our policy as standard with higher limits available. This cover helps protect the trustees against claims for wrongful acts or omissions.

Business interruption cover

If you find yourself experiencing loss of revenue or incurring additional costs to reduce or avoid loss of revenue for a period of time following an Insured event, for example your building is damaged or affected by causes such as fire, storm damage, water damage or vehicle impact, this cover is designed to put your business back in the same financial position it was in before the loss occurred.

If your charity employs staff or operates vehicles on public roads, insurance is a legal requirement. At Everywhen, we advise that charities think about getting a charity insurance policy in place. Reasons for this include, for example, if your charity premises is flooded and business interruption cover, which is included within this policy to help ensure that your charity can carry on providing support and generating funds.

No, you do not need to extend your policy. Corporate Manslaughter Defence Costs cover has been included within our policy since the Act came into force in 2008.

This policy does not cover any claims relating to Communicable Disease, epidemics and/or pandemics, gradual deterioration or wear and tear and acts of fraud or dishonesty. Please contact us for further information about the significant terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy which can be provided when you speak to one of our advisors. A policy wording is available upon request.
