There’s something freeing about packing up the motorhome, gathering the family together and setting off on the open road. A grand escape where you can go on an action-packed adventure somewhere new or slow things down and take a well-earned break. Whatever you’re chasing, a trip in your motorhome allows you to shape your days however you’d like to.

To help inspire your next holiday, here are a few welcoming, family-friendly spots across the UK that are perfect to park your motorhome.

England

1.     Gulliver’s Meadow, Milton Keynes

If you’re travelling with young children, Gulliver’s Meadow is a great spot to take your motorhome. Aside from the fact that it’s located right next to Gulliver’s Theme and Water Park, Gulliver’s Meadow is designed with families in mind. There’s a sizeable play area on site and family shower rooms to make life easier for parents looking after little ones.

2.     Herding Hill Farm, Haltwhistle

Just a mile from Hadrian’s Wall, the next spot is perfect for animal lovers. At Herding Hill Farm, guests of all ages get a chance to meet and feed the resident farm animals including miniature Shetland ponies, alpacas, goats, pigs, rabbits, hens and Coco the donkey. You can even pick up small animal toys from the campsite shop as a memento of your trip.

Northern Ireland

3.     Maddybenny Farm Campsite, Coleraine

Just a short drive from Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine, Maddybenny Farm Campsite combines a peaceful countryside location with plenty to do nearby. There’s an outdoor play area for children and farmyard animals. Keep your eyes peeled for the two resident peacocks wandering the grounds.

 4.     Cushendall Caravan Park, Ballymena

If you’re looking for a site that’s got the beach on its doorstep, look no further than Cushendall Caravan Park located in the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Families can enjoy beach walks, rock-pooling, seaside picnics and watching the boats from the yacht club next door coming and going.

Scotland

5.     Aberfeldy Caravan Park, Perthshire

Perched on the banks of the River Tay, this scenic site is ideal for motorhome-travelling families looking for a peaceful and accessible location. There’s an on-site play park and gated access to the river for extra peace of mind. Spend your days exploring waterfalls, forest trails and a range of adventurous activities around Loch Tay.

6.     Greenwood Loch Holiday Park & Activity Centre, Aberdeenshire

For families that always like to keep busy, Greenwood Loch is a brilliant all-in-one family destination. Set in 200 acres of the lush Aberdeenshire countryside, it offers everything from zip lines and off-road buggies to archery and fly-fishing. You’ll also find a large games room with air hockey, table tennis, arcade machines and a pool table.

Wales

7.     Fforest Fields, Powys

This family‑run park stretches across 500 acres of the Welsh countryside. You’ll find free showers with underfloor heating, generous pitches and an honesty shop stocking local meats and other essentials. The two lakes on site are perfect for kayaking, swimming and wildlife spotting.

8.     Llyn Gwynant Campsite, Eryri National Park

A favourite for families drawn to getaways in the mountains, Llyn Gwynant sits right on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes of Eryri (formally Snowdonia). Think paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing and for the adults in your party – try some of the site’s own beers at the brewery.
